“Common Councilman Thomas M Watkins of the 15th ward, received a letter yesterday announcing the death last week of his father, Mr Watkin Watkins aged 74 years, at his home at Methyr Tydvil, South Wales. Deceased was known by a large number of residents of the West Side. He was for many years foreman at the Cyfortha mills and is survived by his widow and several children. Mr Watkins was the oldest deacon in one of the largest Baptist churches in his native town.”
