The Montrose Democrat says there has been quite a marked mortalitiy among old people in that vicinity of late. Several of the oldest and most respected pioneers have “laid down to peaceful dreams”
Mrs Nelson Jay, mother of Mrs WH Jessup;
Mrs Carmalt, mother of James E Carmalt, Esq and relict of Caleb Carmalt so extensively known in the county;
Mrs Wm Turrell, mother of Hon Wm J Turrell and Henry Turrell;
and Mrs Mulford widow of SS Mulford
all have died within the last 3 or 4 weeks, all of who had reached their “3 score and ten” and some of them over 4 score years.
