Willam Jones, 80, Dies After Illness; Rites Saturday
William M Jones, 80, 1131 West Locust St, died yesterday afternoon at the Summer home of his son Prof William B Jones, Lake Cottrell, Susquehanna County, after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of West Scranton, he was employedat Matthews Bros Drug Store until his retirement in 1951. He was a member of the Bethania Presbyterian Church, SIlurian Lodge No 763, INdependent Order of Odd Fellows and West Scranton Council, No 497, Junior Order of Untied American Mechanics.
Surviving are:
his son, Professor Jones, principal of Abraham Lincoln No 14 School, this city;
a daughter, Mrs Elizabeth Dunlap, New York Vity;
a brother, Alfred J Jones, this city;
4 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Frank W Jones Funeral home 228 SOuth Main Ave, Saturday at 3pm. The Rev Kenneth E Chittick, Bethania Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment SHady LAne Cemetery. Friends may call today from 7-9om and thereafter from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
