Joseph J. Kruper, 90, of Milton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Evangelical Community Hospital Lewisburg.
He was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Dickson City, a son of the late George and Anna (Kociak) Kruper. Joe married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Lewis on Sept. 6, 1952. They were married for more than 43 years until Betty's untimely passing on Feb. 21, 1996.
Joe served his country in the Army National Guard during the Korean War.
He was employed by Rogers and Branch Motor Lines in Scranton/Allentown and in Milton from 1951 until 1985. Joe also was employed by the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Home in Milton for approximately 30 years. Later, he worked part time for his good friend, Gary Visneski at Visneski Funeral Home Inc. in Danville.
He was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Milton, since 1973.
Joe loved watching his son, Joe Jr. excel in football, baseball and basketball for Milton sports teams, as well as following him through four years of college baseball. More recently, Joe has enjoyed watching his grandson, Benjamin, grow into one of the nation's finest junior golfers. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by:
one daughter, Linda Brown of Milton;
one son, Joseph J. Kruper Jr. of Woodbridge, Va.;
three grandchildren, Benjamin Kruper of Woodbridge, Alicia Cummings of Texas, and Joseph Moore of Tennessee;
and two great-grandchildren, Mason Moore of Sunbury and Nodin Cummings of Texas.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Moore; son-in-law, Bill Brown; three brothers, George, John and Andrew; and two sisters, MaryAnn and Veronica.
Relatives and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at St. Joseph's Parish Center, 854 Cemetery Road, Milton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 109 Broadway St., Milton, with Father John D. Hoke as celebrant.
Burial with military rites will follow in the Milton Cemetery.
