“... William and Charlotte Rowe had four sons and three daughters.
“William Henry the oldest son was a physician practicing in London. He died unmarried. Charles Joseph, who went to Canada with his two younger brothers, and from there to Cincinnati, where he died during an epidemic of cholera. He never married.
“Stanhope Sanderson - our father - who was born in London, in a hose on Portman Square, and Basil Robert, who married his forst cousin Caroline Hamilton and remained on the farm near Orillia, which had been bought by the three brothers.
“ The three daughters remained in England, Frances the eldest married Mr. Haines, Mary Anne and Elizabeth Jane both died unmarried.
Mrs. Haines had six children. I quote from a letter from her daughter Elizabeth.
“ ‘ There are five of us living, Basil, whom I live with (he has since died. He is manager of the National Provincial Bank at Bristol, married and has two children, Dorothy and Basil, both at school.’ (this is an old letter, Dorothy is married to a clergy-man the Rev. Mr. Trenchard and Basil, whom they wrote of as Ned, is also married, and has a farm in the Black Forest, I think. He spent a year or two in learning farming somewhere near Bauf ( I think) northwest of Canada, and visited the Canadian cousins).
“ ‘Bob (Robert) who is one of the general managers of the same bank in London. He has lately lost his wife, and not long before that his only son -16- at school. He has two little girls 8 and 11, Evelyn and Marian.’
“(Robert Haines married a second time, a much younger woman, a friend of his daughters).
“ ‘Charles Stanhope, he is the oldest living unmarried (has since died). He was in the army and Captain when he retired.’
“I have been told this his regimant was that of the Prince of Wales, later Edward 7th. My sister and myself, William died and left one daughter, who lives with her mother in Hauts. I shall always be peased to hear from you. Believe me yours affectionately, EA Haines’
