Arnetta Edna Wetherill was born on October 27, 1904 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, near Scranton. Arnetta attended local schools, and after graduation, attended nursing school.
She traveled to Chester County as a nurse, and joined the Army Nurse Corps on February 15, 1944.
She was assigned to work at McCaw general Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington state, located in the southeast portion of the state.
Arnetta was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and worked as a surgical nurse, and later as a fever therapy nurse. On June 1, 1944 she became a patient, having contracted an infectious disease.
Second Lieutenant Arnetta Edna Wetherill Died Non Battle while on active duty, on July 25, 1944.
She was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Campaign Medal.
