John P Barret, went by John P, although his name was just John. There was another John Barrett in town so in order to avoid confusion with mail and such he took the “P” from his wife’s name (Phillipa) to become John P. per JR Parsons. 22 jan 2006

A dughter of Mr and Mrs John Barrett of the West Side died of diphtheria on Sunday afternoon. The funeral was held yesterday. This was the 2nd death in the family in less than a week, another child having died of the same disease a few days ago.
